Gerbil Pictures

Cara put together the Gerbil habitat and Michaela helped introduce them to their new home. Here are some pictures of the housewarming party.

P.S. The blog for the gerbils will be up shortly. Be sure to check in often.

What do the cats think of their new roomies? Have you noticed them licking their chops alot lately?

The cats have not noticed yet, and the gerbils are in the toy room, and we will be keeping the door closed.

Will you leave the tails temporarily attached or simply cut them off now? I must say that when the woodchip dust settles on this little lesson in childhood disappointment (do they live longer than 6 months?), I would be available to come and set up an aquarium for the budding marine biologist... This comment is tongue-in-cheek but I must admit that I am not a fan of gerbils. Call them 'peek' and 'boo'?

Hey Josh,
Sorry you don't like gerbils. They're really fascinating creatures. They're curious, adventurous and smarter and cleaner then your average rodent. They live anywhere from 2-5 years and as for their tails, yes they can fall off if pulled on, so I won't be letting Michaela hold them without supervision. She absolutely adores them. She's not sure what they are, so sometimes she calls then mousies, sometimes rats and sometime lobsters (ie. hamsters). Thanks for your name suggestions. I really like them. Keep 'em coming.

I love suggesting pet names! Has Michaela come up with any cute ones?
Caitlin suggests "Boil" and "Fester"...not so sure about those though...
I'll see if I can come up with anything better.

No, she doesn't yet grasp the concept of naming things yet. We will not be using Cait's name suggestions! But we'd love to hear some more. Josh is winning!
